Whether you’re installing brand-new hardwood floors or breathing new life into existing ones, our process is built around precision and care at every step. For new installations, we begin with a thorough evaluation of your subfloor to ensure it’s level, dry, and ready to support your new flooring. We then carefully select and lay out the wood, accounting for natural light, room flow, and the direction that will best showcase the grain. Each board is fitted, nailed or glued, and blended seamlessly for a polished, professional finish.

Also called "screen and recoat" or "buff and recoat”, is one of the most underrated maintenance steps for hardwood floors. Here's why it's worth doing:
It’s much cheaper than full refinishing. Since rescreening only works on the top finish layer instead of sanding down to bare wood, it costs a fraction of a full refinish, often half or less.
It’s fast. Most rescreening jobs are done in a single day, and you can typically walk on the floors again within 24 hours. A full refinish, by comparison, can take several days including drying time.
It extends the life of your existing finish. Rescreening lightly abrades the top coat and applies a fresh layer of finish, protecting the wood underneath before scratches and wear get deep enough to require sanding.
It keeps floors looking fresh with less disruption. There’s far less dust, noise, and mess compared to full sanding, so it’s much easier to live around, you often don’t need to clear out furniture from the whole room or leave the house.
It helps you avoid more costly repairs down the road. Catching surface wear early with regular rescreening means you’re less likely to let damage reach the wood itself, which is what forces a full, more expensive refinish.
It restores shine and evens out the sheen. Over time, finish can wear unevenly, especially in high-traffic paths. Rescreening smooths this out and brings back a uniform, glossy look.
It’s more sustainable. Because it removes less material than sanding, rescreening preserves more of the wood, letting your solid hardwood floors go longer before they ever need a full refinish and stretching the total number of refinishes possible over the floor’s lifetime.
A few caveats worth knowing: rescreening only works if the existing finish is intact (no bare wood, deep gouges, or water damage) and it won’t change the stain color; it’s strictly a “clean and recoat,” not a way to alter the look. If your floors have deeper damage, full refinishing is the better route.

If you're looking for someone to refinish or install hardwood floors, stop searching and call Bachman Floors. We had nearly 2,000 square feet of solid hardwoods sanded and refinished, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. From day one, the communication, professionalism, and attention to detail were outstanding. They treated our home with care and made what could have been a stressful project incredibly easy. The biggest difference was their guidance in choosing the stain. Instead of simply asking us to pick a color, they walked us through the options, explained how each would look in our home and lighting, and helped us choose the perfect fit. We ended up going with one of Bona's newer stain colors that feels modern and on-trend while still maintaining the timeless character of real hardwood. It's the perfect balance of contemporary and classic, and we couldn't be happier with the result. The craftsmanship is exceptional. The floors look brand new, the finish is flawless, and they completely transformed the feel of our home. We've had multiple people walk in and immediately comment on how beautiful the floors are. Finding contractors who combine incredible craftsmanship with excellent customer service is rare. Bachman Floors does both. If you want a company that genuinely cares about the final result and takes pride in their work, I can't recommend them highly enough. Five stars without hesitation!Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Carlos and his team at Bacmann Flooring for your next flooring project. They were so professional and with an exceptional skill level. They color matched and stained an existing red oak top stair to blend the transition between pine stairs and the LVP that I chose for the project. Used a satin finish which looks great next to the LVP. Wow! Love how it looks. They completed demo of old carpet and installed 500 sq ft of LVP with 3 different moldings and the specialty work, in one day with clean up and haul away. Competitive pricing, as well. I needed the job completed with a short window turn around. So pleased Carlos could make it happen! Looking forward to working with this team again for my next floor project this winter. Thanks, Bachmann Flooring!
Some dust is always expected, but we try to avoid it as much as possible. Our machines run with hepa vacuums and we cover all cabinets with plastic and sealing doors.
It depends on the size of the house, furniture and what kind of finish we are using. But normally for a house with 1200 sqft, it takes 2 to 3 days.
Yes. Hardwood should sit in the room where it’ll be installed for at least 3–7 days beforehand. This lets the wood adjust to the home’s humidity and temperature, preventing gaps or buckling later.
Screening (or “buff and recoat”) lightly abrades just the top finish layer and adds a new topcoat, it’s faster and cheaper but only works if the wood itself isn’t damaged. Full refinishing sands down to bare wood and is needed for deeper scratches, stains, or color changes.
Not usually, but you’ll need to stay off the floors during the process and there will be dust and fumes (especially with oil-based finishes). Many people choose to stay elsewhere for a few days, especially if the kitchen or main living areas are affected.
